THAT is one (of many places) that a 40’ wide 1/8th mile track has an advantage over a 60’ wide ¼ mile National Event size dragstrip… Running the numbers - it’s obvious that there is 3 times as much racing surface area to prepare on the ¼ mile track AND THEY AIN’T SPENDING $3000 A WEEK on traction compound… It’s a KNOWN FACT to Texas Racers that vehicles racing at Little River will put down their BEST 60’ times there.

And if spending the money ain’t enough - Kirk also has on his track’s staff one of the BEST traction men in the industry… They call Tommy Freeman “ Dr. Hook “ and he works and oversee’s Little River just about every weekend that the XDRL Pro Mod Racing series don’t fly him around the country to “do traction” for their races. Last time I talked to him he had just come back from Bristol Tennessee where he “tuned up” their track for the Pro Mods. (That guy can talk track surface ‘till your ears hurt. - Did you know that you need a different bite for 10.5 cars & Nitrous Pro Mods??)

SO - TO PROVE IT - PULL UP THE U-TUBE VIDEO I SHOT OF THE TRACK BEFORE IT GOT WORKED OVER FOR A FRIDAY NITE SHOW… HERE’S THE LINK & IF THAT DON’T WORK FOR ‘YA - TYPE IN TRACTION TOUR…

& You’ll SEE why people say, “Little River’s Bitin’ Like a Stepped On Rattlesnake!!”

Hope You Can Check It Out YOURSELF, October 12 & 13 at the Texas Harley Racers Reunion “Gathering & Drags”…

When racers read about the Historic Old Dragstrip along the banks of the Little River and how it’s now in it’s 57th season in operation - Lots of folks take the WRONG IMPRESSION of it and anticipate seeing a slick “slide-fest” of a race track…

They couldn’t be further mistaken and are always pleasantly surprised when they get there. Now owned by 26 year old Kirk Wolf a member of Little River’s extended founding family who regularly races his Super Comp dragster at tracks around Texas and holds a Top Alcohol Funny Car License, Kirk’s track surface philosophy simply stated is, “Spray It And They Will Come!!”

Little River Dragway is a 40’ wide 1/8th mile dragstrip AND HE SPENDS $1000 A WEEKEND on VHT for it… When we had the June 2nd Motorcycle Sunday, I questioned a motorcycle racer that had been racing the same Pro E.T. bike for over 25 years and he told me that he was consistently .025 quicker than he went the night before at an NHRA National Event track in Baytown (that will remain nameless) and went within .004 of his quickest e.t. ever that warm June Sunday Afternoon..
